Product Detail

Meridian is an outstanding all-natural oolitic (spherical or egg-shaped) aragonite substrate, perfect for all reef and marine aquariums. It stands out as the top - choice aragonite substrate for reef setups. With a fairly uniform grain size of 0.25 - 0.50 mm, it's an ideal home for reef inhabitants. Its chemical makeup plays a crucial role in keeping calcium and alkalinity stable, while also preventing significant drops in pH. Unlike some so - called 'live' wet products on the market, Meridian is sold dry. This means you're only paying for the gravel, not for the extra, unneeded water. Those wet products claim to have living, microscopic animals, but in reality, they just have common bacteria. Whether dry or wet, bacteria are present on all substrates. Here are the key features: Natural oolitic aragonite suitable for all types of marine, reef, and tropical aquariums. It helps stabilize calcium and alkalinity and prevents large pH declines. Below is the Meridian™ Mineral Composition (Units = ppm, source: Plasma Emission Spectrometer, EPA Method 3050, Univ. of Georgia Chemical Analysis Lab):
CaFeMgMnMoSrVZn

Using Seachem Meridian Substrate is a breeze. First, thoroughly rinse the substrate in clean water to remove any dust or debris. Then, gently spread it evenly across the bottom of your reef or marine aquarium. You'll want to aim for a depth that's suitable for your tank's inhabitants. When it comes to maintenance, keep an eye on the water parameters. Since this substrate helps stabilize calcium and alkalinity, regular testing will let you know if any adjustments are needed. Every now and then, use a siphon to remove any waste that settles on the substrate. And remember, although it comes dry, once it's in your tank, it'll start working its magic to keep your aquarium a healthy and stable environment. If you're adding new fish or corals, there's no need to worry about disturbing the substrate too much, but try to be as gentle as possible. Enjoy your beautiful, thriving aquarium with Seachem Meridian Substrate!
